Valg av objekt må gjøres ut fra faglige vurderinger av objektenes egenskaper, RAMS-vurderinger, og rammer gitt i Teknisk regelverk . Feil valg kan medføre sikkerhetsrisiko og uhensiktmessige kostnader til vedlikeholdet av infrastrukturen.
